Shiroda Youth Club defeated Sporting Club Davorlim 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 8th Martin’s Cup football tournament, organized by Betalbatim Sporting Club and played at Panchayat Ground, Betalbatim, on Tuesday.
The match began at a fast pace, with both teams playing end-to-end football. Shiroda Youth Club gradually gained the upper hand as their forwards showcased speed and control. They opened the scoring in the 5th minute when Climax Fernandes unleashed a powerful shot that found the back of the net, giving Shiroda a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Davorlim quickly regrouped and launched attacks. In the 33rd minute, Venson Figueredo delivered a long pass to Rosefon Miranda, who slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to equalize. However, Shiroda responded swiftly”Climax Fernandes scored again in the 35th minute to complete his brace. In the 47th minute, Monzilo Pereira set up Jonathan D’Costa, who made no mistake in finishing to seal a 3-1 victory for Shiroda.
Climax Fernandes was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Joe Fernandes.
