Goa's Shriya Patil continued her winning run as she beat Trisha Jagtap in Round 10 of the 31st Under-7 Girls National Chess Championship 2017, organised by Andhra Pradesh Chess Association, at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday.

Shriya has now moved on to the seventh position with 7.5 points. Meanwhile, her other colleagues had a difficult day as they stumbled in their matches. Naik Drishti lost to Avishi Gupta to stay on five points. Ikra Sarfaraz, who pulled off a surprise win in round nine, went down fighting to Saanvi Sharma. Raikar Rivia R lost to Hridika Das. Rivia is on 4.5 points. Goa's Atharva Sawal suffered a major blow as he was beaten by Sarthak Anand Devadiga in the round 10 match, which leaves him on six points. Prabhu Varad and Pratnesh Malvankar lost their respective matches too as Dharmaditya Sandeep was the only Goan to pocket ½ point from round 10 as he drew against Sreehas Raparla. Sandeep now moves on to 4 points.
Girish Lotlikar, former Goan basketball player, and permanent member of the Goa Basketball Association, was elected unopposed as the President of the association for a term of four years until Sept 2021, at a well attended meeting of over 60 members, held at Don Bosco Oratory, Conference hall on Saturday.

Ralin De Souza (President) and Ashley Do Rosario (Secretary) announced the election process to begin on August 14 after the Annual General Body meeting, held on June 18, after a period where memberships were open to Schools, Clubs, and honorary/Life Members. Proper registration procedures were followed, and the members were approved at the General Body.
