Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club prevailed over Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club, Paroda 5-4 via tiebreaker to storm into the quarter-finals of All Goa 4th Shooting Stars Cup inter village football tournament organized by Margao Sports Club in association with Shooting Stars Sports Club, Colleavaddo-Assolna at Ambelim ground, on Saturday. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of normal period.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. As the match progressed, Sao Jose de Areal slowly took over the reins and in the 20th minute, Neves Soares slotted the ball past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. However their joy was short-lived and minutes later Jay Fernandes neutralised the lead with a stiff grounder.
Fr Agnel Youth Club broke down the Sao Jose de Areal defence dominating the proceedings and came close to scoring but their forwards squandered chances. The second half saw the teams on an even keel with both having their moments in the sun. However, neither team managed to find the target. Sao Jose de Areal had the last laugh in the penalty shootout.
