Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday lamented that sports associations had failed to prepare teams for the National Games, despite being aware eight years ago that Goa would be hosting the National Games.
Sawant was speaking at a function organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs to inaugurate the Rs 6 crore synthetic turf provided for the St Cruz Sports ground.

Stating that excellence in sports requires determination, dedication and passion, Gaude said the government strives to strengthen infrastructure for sports sector with a vision to encourage sports talent in the State.

On the occasion, the chief minister released the jersey of the first Romeo and Victoria Memorial Tournament exhibition match played between Salgaocar Sports Club and Dempo Sports Club.
