St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor blanked Our Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim 3-1 and enter the pre-quarterfinals of Salcete Taluka Under 14 Boy's Subroto Mukherjee inter school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at SAG Artificial Turf Ground, Fatorda on Saturday. St Joseph led 3-0 at half time.
St Joseph dominated the game right from the word go as they never allowed their opponents to settle down and forged ahead in the fifth minute when Jesus Antao slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Buoyed by the lead, St Joseph upped the ante and pushed their opponents on the back foot and, two minutes later, Jesus Antao doubled the lead with a stiff shot. Elrich Fisher put the issue beyond doubt in the 13th minute. Crossing over, St Joseph slackened in their pace and Elias Costa scored a consolation goal for the rivals.
In another match, a triple strike by Rezin Kullo helped Rosary High School, Navelim thump Infant Jesus High School, Cuncolim 6-0. Rosary High School led 3-0 at half time.
It was again a one-sided affair as Rosary boys virtually toyed with the rivals' weak defence and outplayed them in all departments of the game. Rezin Kullo opened the floodgates in the very third minute when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish. The early goal helped the Rosary lads as they tormented the rival defence with frequent raids. Jollister Ferrao increased the tally in the ninth minute. Noah Luis made it 3-0 in the 15th minute.
Post resumption, Rosary continued to enjoy total domination and Ajay Raj inflated the tally in the 30th minute. Rezin Kullo then struck twice again in the 35th and 39th to register his hat-trick.
