Tiswadi enter Geno Cup semis

Tiswadi entered the semi-finals of Geno Cup Under-16 cricket tournament after defeating Bicholim by nine wickets at Campal ground on Tuesday.

Electing to bat first, Bicholim failed to put up a decent performance as they were bundled out for a meagre 60 runs in 43.5 overs. Zidan Khan was the top-scorer with 24 runs. Tiswadi's Manish Pai Kakode picked up five wickets for 15 runs. Sagar Vantamuri took four wickets for 18 runs.
In reply, Tiswadi scored 126 runs in 41.4 overs with Manish making the highest contribution of 40 runs. Sagar scored 36 runs.
In the second innings, Bicholim did better than their first strike, as they were bowled out for 109 in 76.1 overs. Aditya Dalal scored 52 runs off 192 balls. He hit four boundaries. Tiswadi's Anand Adhikari was the chief wrecker with figures of seven for 22.
However, Bicholim's total was not enough to prevent their loss as Tiswadi raced to victory at 44/1 and clinched six points. Shardul Shet was unbeaten on 23 while Lakmesh Pawane made 19 not out. Manish Pai Kakode was named man-of-the match.
In another match played at Agonda ground, Salcete picked up three points for first-innings lead over Canacona. Salcete scored 285/7 in 65 overs before declaring their innings. The stand-out feature of their batting was the sixth-wicket partnership of 172 runs. Ayush Verlekar was unlucky to miss out on a century as he was out for 96 runs off 157 balls. Subham Gajinkar scored unbeaten 79 runs off 135 deliveries.
Canacona were shot out for 62 in the first innings. But they managed to hold their second strike with the score reading 102/5 at the end of the second and final day's play. Salcete's Ayush had a good game all-round, as he picked up six wickets with his leg-spin, in the first innings. He was named man-of-the match.
