Gurukul Academy of Umpires, Scorers & Referees felicitated three most respected umpires from Goa, Dr Raja Nagarajan, Madhav Dhargalker and Ravindra Bukkam, for their immense service to cricket. One common factor that connects the umpiring trio, is that they passed their State panel umpires examination under the same conductor, J J Kore, from Mumbai Cricket Association.

Born on August 14, 1953, Nagarajan officiated one-day international match between India and Zimbabwe in Orissa. He regularly officiated Ranji, Duleep, Irani and Wills Trophy matches apart from other domestic matches conducted by BCCI. He became State umpire in 1976, Ranji umpire in 1991 and international umpire in 1995-96. His tenure was at peak between 1978 till 1999. Nagarajan is a scientist at NIO, Dona Paula. Born on August 13, 1945, Madhav Dhargalker, a science graduate, started his career in the same year when he passed as State panel umpire in 1974 which lasted till 1990. He officiated mostly in Goa and All-India tournaments like Arlem Trophy. Ravindra Bukkam was born on September 20, 1948. The science student stood first in the State panel exam which was conducted by J J Kore in 1978. His umpiring period was brief but memorable one. Bukkam shifted over from umpiring to conducting Single-Wicket tournament in Goa where even Sachin Tendulkar and his compatriot Vinod Kambli (both around 14-years-old then) participated. He regularly officiated All-India tournaments like Arlem Trophy and domestic matches conducted by GCA.
