Viva Goa edge past Vasco Veterans

MARGAO

A second half strike by Anthony Pontes helped Viva Goa (Bardez Veterans) overcome Vasco Veterans 1-0 and romp into the quarter-finals of All Goa Barcelona Veterans Cup football tournament organized by Barcelona Boys at Mabai Ground, Per Seraulim on Tuesday. After a barren first half, both the sides showed a lot more urgency but on a fairly uneven pitch, controlling the ball that was bouncing around was certainly a challenge. Stung by that setback, former India defender Derrick Pereira attacked the defense repeatedly but his tries missed the mark narrowly.Vasco Veterans' most dangerous attacks came at the fag end through counter attacks when Derrick Pereira outwitted couple of defenders but his rasping shot flew over the crossbar.
