In the Benaulim Constituency Veterans 8-a-side football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim and held at Seraulim Panchayat Ground, Benaulim Veterans emerged triumphant with a 3-2 win against Orlim Veterans.
Benaulim Veterans displayed promise, dominating the first half with three consecutive goals. The initial breakthrough came in the very first minute when Luis Fernandes, receiving a defence-splitting pass from Nicholas, skillfully struck past the helpless goalkeeper.
The second goal transpired in the 4th minute, as Dominic's long-range shot deceived the keeper, finding its way into the net. Nicholas Rodrigues contributed Benaulim's third goal by skillfully dribbling past defenders and scoring, securing a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Despite Benaulim's strong start, Orlim Veterans regrouped and executed a game plan, displaying urgency in the second half. In the 26th minute, Alister Saldana's powerful shot narrowly missed the crossbar. Alex Ambrose, however, ignited hope for Orlim in the 30th minute with a well-placed shot.
Nicholas, maintaining pressure, showcased dominance with the ball. Although Alex Ambrose scored Orlim's second goal by manoeuvring past a defender, Benaulim held firm until the end, clinching the match 3-2 and advancing to the semifinals.
