CAC Cansalium beat hosts AA de Majorda 3-2 to reach the finals of 21st Fr Basulio Andrade Football Tournament at Musson ground, Majorda.
Muetton Fernandes put Majorda in the lead in the 15th minute off a perfect pass from Kavin Almeida. In the 27th minute, Bevan D'mello added his name to the scoresheet by scoring from a very difficult angle. The team went into the breather with a 2-0 goal cushion.
In the second half, Cansaulim rallied to score in the 42nd minute through the boots of Elvino Fernandes, 1-2. A hardworking Agnelo D'Souza scored the leveller for Cansaulim in the 47th minute, 2-2. In the 58th minute, Cansaulim playmaker Chadwick sent a 30-yard strike that gave no chance to Majorda keeper Edwin Fernandes for the match winner, 3-2.
Fr Agnel beat Arlem to reach semis
Fr Angel Youth Club Paroda downed Arlem Youth Association 3-1 to move into the semifinals of the Rising Cup 2022 football tournament organised by Rising Club of Sanvorcotto Cuncolim at Cuncolim ground on Wednesday.
Paroda netted the first goal of the match through Kanchan Kiro in the 14th minute. In the second half, Arlem Youth equalised through Sweden Barbosa in the 48 minute. Paroda scored two more goals through Cyril Dias in the 59th and 61st minutes.
The Man of the match award was presented to Cyril Dias of Fr Agnel YC Paroda at the hands of organising chairman Sammy Tavares.
SP Gymkhana, TSCA post big wins
SP Gymkhana, TSCA, Vijay ICE and Just Cricket registered big wins in the All India Bhikoo Pai Angle Memorial U-15 cricket tournament on Wednesday.
At Dharbandora Cricket Ground, Shivaji Park Gymkhana beat Dwarka Cricket Clubby nine wickets. DCA elected to bat firstto post 91 all out in 26.1 overs. Arnav Tambat (23) and Mohammad Nashikwala (18*) were the top scorers as Vedant Dessai (3/10), Atharva Adhikari (2/13), Atharva Kamble (2/14) shared the spoils with the ball for SP Gymkhana. SP Gymkhana chased down the target in 17 overs with Raza Mirza (28*), Meet Patel (24) and Aniket Patil (37*) the top scorers.
At KRC Cricket Ground, Margao, TSCA, Hubli defeated Mashem Cricket Club by five wickets while at Agonda Cricket Ground, Vijay ICE beat Nashik CA by a huge margin of 98 runs. At Mashem Cricket Ground, Just Cricket Academy got the better of Sports Authority of Goa by 111 runs for a massive win.
Goa University chess, football trials
Goa University will conduct a selection trial in chess for Men on Friday, November 4 at 3 pm. Students interested in attending the trials may report at Sports Section, Goa University along with college identity card and a chess board. The team will be picked for West Zone Inter University Chess Championship for Men which is scheduled from November 15 to 19 at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Campus, Amakantak, MP.
Meanwhile, the Goa University will conduct a selection trial in football for women on Monday, November 7 at 3 pm. Students interested in attending the trials may report at Sports Section, Goa University, along with college identity card and playing kit. The players will be selected for the West Zone Inter University Football Championship for Women scheduled from December 3 to 8 at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Gwalior, MP.
