MARGAO: Cuncolim Union sealed their spot in the final of the United Club of Telaulim Tournament with a commanding 2-0 victory over Sao Jose de Areal at the Rosary Church Ground on Wednesday.
Cuncolim netted a goal in each half to ensure a smooth passage into the title clash. Tushar Gaonkar opened the scoring in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error by Areal. Arron Fernandes doubled the lead in the 45th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.
SJ Areal had their chances but were wasteful in front of goal, either hitting straight at the keeper or failing to keep their shots on target.
Mathew Fernandes of Cuncolim Union was adjudged Man of the Match, with the award presented by Prakash Dessai.
The final showdown will take place on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, with Cuncolim Union set to face Navelim Villagers Union in what promises to be a thrilling title clash.
