Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, secured a place in the semifinals of the 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy Football Tournament with a commanding 3-0 win over Sporting Club of Cana Benaulim. The tournament is organized by Navelim Sporting Club and the match was played at the Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, on Monday.
The match began at a high tempo, with Don Bosco’s Edger Noronha missing a golden opportunity to open the scoring just two minutes into the game. Benaulim responded swiftly with a powerful strike from Faizal Bepari that rattled the crossbar, but neither side could break the deadlock in the first half.
The second half saw Don Bosco take control of the game. Hanshlum Furtado broke the deadlock with a well-placed finish over the Benaulim goalkeeper. Benaulim's Alejo Fernandes came close to equalising but failed to hit the target.
Don Bosco then extended their lead with goals from Velito Miranda and ace striker Francisco Andrade, sealing a comfortable 3-0 victory and a spot in the semifinals.
Velito Miranda of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, was adjudged the Man of the Match and received the award from George Barreto.
