Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda made short work of Our Lady of Gloria SC Raia when they defeated them 2-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup inter-village tournament, organized by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim and played at Fr Druston and Wellington ground Cavelossim.
In a balanced first half, Raia missed a golden opportunity to forge ahead when Achilles Fernandes rounded the Don Bosco keeper but shot wide with the open goal at his mercy.
However, Don Bosco took the lead when Frazer Miranda scored from a narrow angle off a pass from Joylex Vaz.
Crossing over, Frazer Vaz completed his brace when his rasping shot from the 18-yard box entered the top corner to make the score 2-0 for Fatorda.
Achilles Fernandes scored a consolation goal for Raia
Velroy Borges of Our Lady of Gloria SC Raia was adjudged as the Man of the Match and the award was given to him by Fr Ubaldo Fernandes, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, Cavelossim.
Earlier, Dixon Vaz , Sarpanch of VP Cavelossim and Chairman of the Club kicked off the tournament.
