DBO Fatorda win Seraulim Panchayat Cup

MARGAO
Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, emerged victorious in the 17th All Goa Inter-village Seraulim Panchayat Cup football tournament, defeating Nuvem Sports Club 4-3 in a tense tiebreaker. The final of the tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim, was held at the Seraulim Panchayat Ground.

Both teams showcased attacking football, with plenty of urgency to score, but they could not break the deadlock before halftime. After several missed opportunities, the score remained 0-0 at the break.

The second half saw a similar pattern, with both teams continuing to press but failing to find the back of the net. Defences held strong, and goalkeepers from both sides made crucial saves, keeping the game scoreless.

With no goals scored in regular time, the match went to penalties. Don Bosco Oratory converted all four of their kicks, with Roque Borges, Mario Noronha, Hanslum Furtado, and Edgar Noronha all scoring. Nuvem netted through Godfrey Mascarenhas and Hudson Dias, but penalty attempts by Alvito Dias and Frazer Miranda were saved by Don Bosco keeper Karol Soares, sealing Fatorda’s victory.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by chief guest Capt Venzy Viegas, MLA of Benaulim Constituency, and Fr Jose Gonsalves, guest of honour. Special invitees included Sarpanch Sima Shanke, Deputy Sarpanch Leslie Dourado, and Panch members Jilu Domingos Fernandes, Julie Gomes, Alina Pereira, Felix Fernandes, and Angela Dourado.

Individual awards: Best Disciplined Team: St Anthony’s SC Marna, Siolim, Best Midfielder of the Finals: Inacio Colaco (Nuvem SC), First Scorer of the Finals: Rocky Borges (DBO Fatorda), Best Goalkeeper of the Finals: Karol Soares (DBO Fatorda), Best Defender of the Finals: Alfred Noronha (DBO Fatorda).
