The group stage of the Goa Veterans Cricket Tournament concluded on Saturday. Based on performances in this stage, Desserts N More Avengers, Gomanchal Warrior, Priority Titans and Vasco Warriors have qualified for the semifinals.
On Sunday, the first semifinal between DNM Avengers vs Gomanchal Warrior will be played at the GCA Porvorim ground, while the second semifinal between Vasco Warriors vs Priority Titans will be held at the Chicalom ground. Both matches will be in the morning session.
Exciting action marked the final day of group matches held on Saturday at the GCA Ground, Porvorim, and SAG Ground, Chicalim. At Porvorim, Desserts & More Avengers put up 110 runs in 19.1 overs, powered by a solid 62 from Micky Culasso. In reply, Mallikarjun Veterans* were bundled out for 95 in 16.5 overs. Santosh Saterkar and Datta Naik claimed three wickets each. Micky Colaco was named Player of the Match.
In the second match, Priority Titans, riding on attacking knocks from Damodar Redkar (61) and Sagar Parsekar (52), posted 187/6 in 20 overs. Gomanchal Warrior fought hard but were restricted to 168. Damodar Redkar was declared Player of the Match.
At the SAG Ground in Chicalim, Cricket Corner scored 150/7 with contributions from Abhijit Kadam (49) and Sandeep D'Mello (46), and defeated RMK 11 by 20 runs. Abhijit Kadam earned the Player of the Match award.
In the second match, Cafe Bhonsle registered 134/9, but Vasco Warriors, driven by an unbeaten 79 from Asad Pathan, chased it down in 19.2 overs. Cafe Bhonsle suffered a defeat. Asad Pathan was named Player of the Match.
