Fatima Boys Baida scored an easy 3-1 win over BMC, Caramorod to win the Chinchinim 8-a-side inter ward football tournament organised by Aslam Boys, Baida, at Church Ground, Chinchinim.
The teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of the half. Both sides had equal scoring chances but their forwards misfired in front of the goal.
Post resumption, Fatima Boys came out with aggressive intent and their first goal came soon after the break when Daniel bulged the net. The goal boosted Fatima Boys as they mounted pressure on the rival defence and Princeton doubled the lead. Fatima Boys added further gloss to the scoreline as Leviston added his name to the scorers' list.
Fatima Boys Baida were awarded a cash prize of Rs 7,000 and a trophy, while BMC Caramorod claimed a runners-up prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy.
Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave the prizes in the presence of State Mahila Congress president Adv Pratima Coutinho, Velim Sarpanch Savio Silva and Dixon Vaz, founder president of GSAI.
