MARGAO
FC Goa players will begin their pre-season training at Dempo SC academy ground at Ella, Old Goa on Tuesday, October 6. After three rounds of Covid-19 testing, the team and staff have been quarantined.
With the club’s foreign contingent still awaiting their visas, first-team assistant coach Clifford Miranda and other coaching staff will handle the session, while in contact with head coach Juan Fernando and the rest of the technical staff who are in Spain.
This is Miranda’s second season with the club. The Betalbatim-born was appointed as the Gaurs assistant coach in 2019- 20 season and has extended his stay at the club. Miranda led FC Goa as interim coach towards the fag end of the last season after Spanish coach Sergio Lobera parted ways with the Gaurs. With Miranda at the helm, FC Goa became the first-ever Indian club to qualify for the group stages of the AFC Champions League.
A host of the club’s new signings have joined the squad for the pre-season and Miranda will have a chance to assess the youngsters. The Gaurs will train at Ella ground and Panchayat ground in Salvador do Mundo.
Meanwhile, barring Bengaluru FC and East Bengal, all the teams have arrived in Goa for their preseason training.
