Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi, secured a comfortable 6-wicket victory against Goa Medical College, Bambolim on Day 16 of the the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men Championship 2024-25.
Winning the toss, Goa College of Engineering elected to field first. Goa Medical College were bundled out for 112 runs in 19.5 overs, with Adarsh Naik (37) and Rutvik Gawade (18) contributing the bulk of the runs. Prabhakar Shetye (2/16) and Tushar Ghatwal (1/14) led the bowling attack for the engineering college.
In response, Goa College of Engineering chased down the target in 16.5 overs, scoring 116/4. Shreyash Usgaonkar (34*) and Smit Dalvi (26) guided their team to victory. Despite Adarsh Naik's effort with the ball (2/15), it wasn't enough to secure a win for Goa Medical College. Shreyash Usgaonkar was awarded the best performance for his all round contribution of 34 runs and 1 wicket.
In the second match, G.V.M’s College, Farmagudi, defeated Vidya Prabodhini College, Porvorim, by a convincing 78 runs. G.V.M’s College, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a formidable total of 199/8 in their 20 overs. Daksh Naik (69) and Shubham Shinde (47) were the key contributors with the bat. Rushil Velingkar (3/35) and Pranav Salunkhe (3/50) were the pick of the bowlers for Vidya Prabodhini College.
Vidya Prabodhini College struggled in their run chase, managing only 121 runs in 18 overs. Nayan Kulabkar (26) and Sahil Shetty (16) were the top scorers. Biraj Gawde (2/11) and Jagdish Somji (2/14) bowled exceptionally well for G.V.M’s College. Daksh Naik was named the best performer for his match winning 69 runs.
