Geno FC emerged triumphant with a decisive 2-1 win against Sesa Football Academy in the GFA Goa Professional League, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Tuesday.
Geno FC took the lead in the 40th minute after an impressive move from the right flank which culminated in a clinical finish at the first post by striker Chaitan Komarpant setting the tone for Geno FC's dominance.
Geno FC looked a better side on the pitch and showed incredible pace meet and had couple of scoring chances but their forwards muffed gilt edged chances.
At the other end, Sesa Football Academy looked disjointed and failed to function as a cohesive unit and their forwards ran out of ideas after reaching the rival danger zone.
Geno FC increased the tempo and soon came close to scoring but their forwards attempts either shot straight into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper or shot wide.
The second half witnessed heightened intensity as their attacks from Abelson Jachi and Chaitan Komparpant forced the rival goalkeeper to come up with smart saves.
Geno FC persisted with their offensive strategy and seizing an opportunity when striker Chaitan Komparpant slotted past the rival goalkeeper at the stroke of the final whistle. Sesa Football Academy managed to score the consolation goal in the injury time through Joshua D'Silva. Geno’s Gautam was given the player of the match award.
At Nagoa ground, Jesloy Moniz scored a treble for the Pax of Nagoa side while Royal Oliveira and substitute Shubert Pereira scored the other two goals to take the final tally to five goals against Panjim Footballers.
In GFA 2nd Division League, Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda downed UC Telaulim 10-2.In GFA 3rd Division League, BITS Pilani ran riot over Cortalim Gymkhana 7-0. In GFA U15 League, FC YFA registered a 4-1 win over Guardian Angel SC. In GFA U-13 League, Adarsh Yuvak Sangh and YSC Colvale played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. Dunes SC downed Goa United 8-4. Valpoi SC trounced Augustias SC 7-2. The Anjuna Gymkhana beat Laxmi Prasad 3-1. Salcete FC beat Colmorod Ratwado 3-2. Raia FC defeated Verna SC 12-1.
