Goa will face Delhi in a high-stakes Group A (Tier 1) clash of the Junior Boys National Football Championship for the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy 2025-26 at the GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar, Punjab, on Tuesday.
The encounter is a virtual knockout for Goa, who are currently second in the group with one point, trailing leaders Delhi who have three. A win for Goa will keep their hopes alive for a semifinal spot, while Delhi will look to seal their place with back-to-back wins, having edged past hosts Punjab 3-2 in their opening match.
Goa head coach Shane Temudo underlined the significance of the match while speaking to The Goan Everyday. “This is our do-or-die moment in the group stage. We are focused on getting the three points. Delhi are ahead, but we’re prepared and determined to win,” he said.
Temudo emphasized that the team had taken lessons from their previous outing. “The boys are aware of the missed opportunities in front of goal. We’ve worked on those areas. Also, the humid conditions could pose a challenge, but the players are mentally and physically ready.”
He added that attention to detail would be key. “Small details can make a big difference. The players have shown great professionalism and responsibility. They know what’s at stake.”
Temudo also acknowledged the role of fans and support staff. “Their support is the energy that drives us forward. I have full confidence in my team, and I believe they’ll rise to the occasion and make Goa proud,” he concluded.
