Goan trio of Leewan Castanha, Vellington Fernandes and Harish Patre will be part of the Indian Arrows squad, which will feature in the I-League to be played in West Bengal from January 5.
Before participating in the I-League, the All India Football Federation's developmental team will play in the 123rd IFA Shield, to be held from December 6 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The twelve-team tournament will see three more I-League clubs “ Mohammedan SC, Gokulam Kerala and Sudeva Delhi FC “ in action.
Kolkata giants ATK Mohun Bagan and SC East Bengal won’t take part in the tournament as they would be busy competing in the top-tier Indian Super League in Goa during that period.
Two teams from each group will progress into the quarter-finals. The matches will be held behind closed doors, following strict COVID-19 regulations.
Organised by the Indian Football Association (IFA), the football governing body in West Bengal, IFA Shield is one of the oldest football tournaments in the country.
The Groups: Group A - Kidderpore Sporting Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Kalighat MS, Group B - Sudeva Delhi FC, Peerless Sports Club, Aryan Club, Group C - Indian Arrows, Southern Samity, George Telegraph SC, Group D - United SC, Gokulam Kerala FC, BSS Sporting Club.
