MARGAO: Guirdolim Club triumphed 4-3 in a thrilling tiebreaker against Shiroda Youth Club to advance to the quarterfinals of the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2025, organized by the United Club of Verna.
The match, held at Verna Panchayat Ground on Wednesday, ended in a goalless draw after regular time.
In the penalty shootout, Guirdolim Club's Moises D'Sa, Joaquim Carvalho, Akram Yadwad, and Mark Fernandes converted their spot kicks. For Shiroda Youth Club, Elias Colaco, Royston Vaz, and Placito Cruz scored, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Moises D'Sa of Guirdolim Club was named the Star of the Match, with the award presented by Janju Fernandes, a former player of the club.
