Defending champions Harrison XI Cuncolim and Cross Boys Velim booked their place in the final of the 2nd Edition of the 9-a-side AVCC Open Invitational Football Tournament at Velim Church Ground.
In the first semifinal, Cross Boys Velim edged past Shantadurga Panzorconim 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. For the winners, Prasad and Ansh scored, while Kiran netted a brace. Shantadurga fought hard with Tushar Gaunkar also scoring twice, alongside a goal from Valley Dias. Kiran was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Lester Torcato.
In the second semifinal, Harrison XI Cuncolim continued their strong run with a 2-0 victory over GTS Tollecanto. Both goals were scored by Jairaj, who was also named Man of the Match and felicitated by Landry Mascarenhas, Chairperson of Cuncolim Municipality.
The final will be played on May 1. Before the summit clash, an exhibition match will be held between Salcete Kuwait Goans and Bardez Kuwait Goans.
