Hosts AA de Majorda entered the quarterfinals of Fr Basilio Andrade football tournament defeating Raia Sporting Club 4-3 at Musson ground, Majorda.
Majorda scored through Ashley Rodriguez in the 9th minute and Beveen D'Mello doubled the lead in the 14 th minute. Kavin Almedia, the livewire of Majorda team, combined well with Beveen and scored the 3rd goal in the 30th minute.
In the second half, Majorda increased the lead in the 43rd minute through Kavin Almedia, who showed a great sense of understanding with Lenny Vaz to score his brace. In the second session, Raia's Eidon Colaco and Joswel Cardozo combined well.
Eidon scored to make the score 4-1 in the 49th minute. Joswel struck in the 53rd minute to bring more cheers to the Raia team. Raia pulled back another goal through Eidon Colaco, who hoodwinked the rival defence to find the mark in the 68th minute. AA de Majorda won 4-3 to march into the quarterfinals.
Augustine powers Bardez Veterans into finals
Augustine Rodrigues scored one and turned provider for another as Bardez Veterans got past Campal Veterans to enter the 50+ final of the GVFC Football Tournament at Sinquetim ground, on Friday.
Tied goalless at the end of the first half, Bardez got the all-important breakthrough midway through the second period when Rodrigues sneaked in to connect a measured corner kick from former Indian skipper Bruno Countinho. They doubled their lead three minutes from the end after Rodrigues laid the ball in the path of Alwyn Fernandes. Bardez Veterans will now meet Verna Veterans in Sunday’s final.
Ambelim SC move into quarterfinals
Ambelim Sports Club hammered Dicarpale SC 4-2 to enter the quarterfinals of the Navelim Villagers Union Trophy organised in memory of late Jose Santa Rita Coelho (Babush) at Rosary Church ground, Navelim on Friday. Ambelim SC dominated both sessions as Velroy Rebello scored a brace while Samson Fernandes and Jeniton D’Silva netted a goal each for them. Clinton Rebello and Sintroy Furtado were the scorers for Dicarpale SC.
Sinquerim SC enter Champions Trophy final
Sinquerim Sports Club, Mayem got the better of Augustias Sporting Club 2-0 to move into the finals of FC Tuem Champions Trophy inter-village football tournament at Tuem DSYA ground, on Friday.
The teams went into the breather with no goals on the board. Post resumption in the 41st minute, Mitesh Hoble’s brilliant header into the goal gave Sinquerim the lead. In the 47th minute, Raju Abbigeri’s freekick crashed into the Agustias net, 2-0.
In the 52nd minute, Sinquerim’s Prabhakar Maulinkar missed an open chance in front of the goal. In the last 10 minutes, Augustias tried their best but failed to score. Sinquerim will now face Pilerne SC in the finals, which will be played on Monday, October 24.
