MARGAO: Margao Boys sealed a convincing 4-1 victory over Verna Boys to book their place in the finals of the Our Lady of Fatima Church Dicarpali Silver Jubilee Cup, organised by Fatima Church in association with Dicarpali Sports Club, at the Dicarpali ground on Friday.
Margao made a strong start with Joywin Carneiro opening the scoring in the 10th minute, followed by Milagres Fernandes doubling the lead in the 24th minute. Verna had a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit before halftime, but Desmon failed to convert, leaving Margao with a 2-0 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Verna pulled one back through Francisco in the 35th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. However, those hopes were dashed as Joywin Carneiro struck twice more in the 50th and 60th minutes to complete his hat-trick and restore Margao's dominance.
Joywin Carneiro was deservedly named Man of the Match for his brilliant three-goal performance.
