Navelim Villagers Union advanced to the semifinals of the 25th All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament after defeating United Club of Verna 2-0, organised by Sirlim Sports Club at Chinchinim Church ground.
The match saw both teams playing competitively, with Navelim getting an early chance to lead through Ronaldo Pereira, who missed an open header. However, Ronald Pereira scored in the 23rd minute to put Navelim ahead. Verna's Melifton Rebello came close to scoring but narrowly missed the target. At half time, Navelim Union Villagers leading 1-0 at break.
In the second half, both teams battled primarily in the midfield. Verna's goalkeeper, Royal, made several crucial saves to keep his team in the game. Navelim extended their lead with a goal by Venito Costa in the 44th minute. Despite a late effort from Cyrus Noronha of Verna, the match ended with Navelim Union Villagers winning.
