The much promised step of hosting trial matches for the probable with other teams and testing the strength of the team has not taken off so far, people who are on the ground who have been following the Goa senior men team practice sessions, told The Goan.
It was one of the few steps which the new Goans Hockey President Abhay Bhambikar had promised to the hockey gathering which had assembled a few weeks back to release the hockey magazine brought out by Hockey Heritage group at Pilar School.
The new president has promised to hold trial matches for the state team probables and depending on the standard of the team he had said teams for the national championship will be sent, but so far no trial matches of that order have taken place.
The President, Bhambikar, was reacting to a suggestion by the former Deputy Director of Coaching of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs to hold trial matches before embarking on the national level tournaments had accepted the proposal and had assured to implement the same.
