With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, Sports Minister Govind Gaude has reassured that the prize money for winners of the Goa National Games will be distributed before the festival.
Gaude confirmed that the necessary paperwork for the prize distribution has been completed. He mentioned, “As I said in the assembly, the prize money for National Games winners will be given before Ganesh Chaturthi. The file has been processed, and a date will be set soon.”
During the recent assembly session, Gaude had addressed concerns from athletes and volunteers about delayed payments. He acknowledged the frustration of medalists who have been waiting for their rewards and addressed the issue of unpaid volunteers. Gaude explained that the procedures are being followed to ensure that the prize money is handed out as quickly as possible.
Athletes and volunteers involved in the National Games had previously expressed dissatisfaction over the long wait for their payments. However, Gaude's statement suggests that the issue is being resolved, and the prize money will be transferred before the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
