The pre-season training camp organized by Salcete Football Club in association with Square Out culminated at the SAG Artificial Turf Ground, Fatorda.
The camp, which has emerged as the biggest talent spotting platform will churn out quality Goan footballers. The four-week camp was conducted by former Dempo SC coach Mauricio Afonso, who was assisted by Climax Lawrence, assistant coach of Velsao Sports and Cultural Club, and Covan Lawrence, former East Bengal player.
Alberto Colaco, former General Secretary of All India Football Federation also interacted with the trainees. Arjuna awardee Brahmanand Shankwalkar, who was the chief guest, said Salcete FC has been a “cradle of footballers”, having produced champions like Mauricio Afonso, Savio Madeira, Climax Lawrence, Mario Soares and Alvito D'Cunha who were successful at the top level. He urged the trainees to work hard with dedication and be disciplined to become good players.
Among those present were Derrick Pereira, technical director of FC Goa, Samir Naik, coach of Dempo Sports Club, Joseph Dias, president of Salcete FC, Peter Valles, Raul Rodrigues, and other office-bearers of Salcete FC.
