MARGAO: Salcete Stallions beat Estilo Legends by 22 runs in the Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series Cricket at Arlem cricket ground.
Put in to bat, Durgesh Prabhugaonkar, surviving 3 chances, blasted a quickfire 44 (22 balls) to give an electrifying start to the Stallions, puting on an important 51 run partnership for the 2 nd wicket with Saeesh Prabhudesai 36 (26 balls). Atchut Naik Dalal 10, Sandeep Dalal 15 and Sahish Mahambrey 12 tried their best but it was a spectacular innings by Rajaram Kundaikar 44 (22 balls) which helped the Salcete Stallions post an imposing 185-7 in 20 overs. Dr. Sagar Salgaocar 2-12, Siddesh Desai 2-34 and Karan Mahale 2-41 were the successful bowlers for the Legends.
In reply, Estilo Legends got off to a disastrous start as they kept losing wickets from one end while Adv. Sachin Sardesai, surviving 2 chances, tried his best making 35 (30 balls) and in the company of Dr. Sagar Salgaocar (20) tried to resurrect the innings. However the Legends batters found the off spin of Adv Gaurish Agni too hot to handle as he chipped in with 3 crucial wickets as the Legends slid to 80-6 in 13 overs, needing 106 in 42 balls.
Siddesh Prabhu Alvenkar played a gem of an innings making 53 (24 balls) and in the company of Kauntey Shenvi (10) and Eeshan Kamat (12 not out) tried to make a match out of an improbable situation, Eventually the Estilo Legends fell short by 22 runs, finishing at 163-8 in 20 overs. Though the Legends lost the match, the innings by Alvenkar could just be the saving grace as they kept their hold on the Net Run Rate (+0.99), the 2 nd best amongst the 8 teams after Madgaon Royals (+1.70). In case of teams finishing level on points, the Net Run rate would be the deciding factor which seals the 4 teams for the knockouts.
Adv Gaurish Agni 3-21 was the most successful bowler and was supported by Sandeep Dalal, Sudesh Prabhudesai, Sahish Mahambrey and Durgesh Prabhugaonlar who picked a wicket each.
Adv Gaurish Agni was awarded the Desserts n More Man of the Match medal and the Estilo Moderno Realty Man of the Match trophy along with a cash prize of Rs.2000 for his brilliant bowling for the Salcete Stallions. The presentation was done by Manguirish Kenkre, Dr. Sagar Salgaocar, Jaiprakash Sinai Kunde and Nagnath Shanbhag in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
