SCC Loutolim prevailed over Verna Sports Club 6-4 via the tie-breaker in the 1st Antonio Rebelo Memorial inter-village football tournament finals, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Sunday.
Loutolim had their first chance to score when Shelford Fernandes' shot was well saved by Verna goalkeeper Jose Silveira. Verna created good moves with Ajay Satarkar in the midfield but their strikers failed to score.
In second half, both the teams tried their best to score but the match ended goalless.
In the tie-breaker, SCC Loutolim won by 6-5.
Loutolim scorered through Shelford, Royce, Steve, Aryan, Darren and Hanson while Andrus, Joasle, Hilton, Cyrus and Romario were on target for Verna SC.
Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco MLA Curtorim and chairman GIDC was the chief guest and gave away the individual prizes in the presence of Simon Pereira (sarpanch VP Orlim), Rui Menezes, Norbert Gonsalves, Savio Madeira, Brahmanand Shankhwalkar, Bento Endro,ex Salgaocar footballer Roque Mascarenhas, Andrew Ferrao, Cosme Oliveira both GFA excutive members,family members of late Antonio Rebelo and club officials.
Earlier, Curtorim Gymkhana felicitated five personalities of Curtorim namely, Vilton D'Cruz and Ryan Fernandes who represented at 37th National Games and won bronze medal in Pencak Silat martial arts sports. Jossel Mascarenhas represented Goa senior women championship at Kerala in 2021. Venson Paes who won a gold medal at the Special Olympics in Germany and Livio Mascarenhas for outstanding contribution for Curtorim Gymkhana as a media manager.
