Nuvem Veterans overcame a tough challenge from Fatorda Veterans, winning 6-4 in a penalty shootout after the teams finished 2-2 in regulation time in the S Mini Mart Seraulim Veterans Cup football tournament, organized by the United Sports Club of Seraulim, at the Seraulim Church ground.
The match began with both teams adopting an aggressive approach, eager to take the lead. Fatorda Veterans struck first in the 8th minute when Santano Furtado scored with a well-placed header off a cross from Joaquim Fernandes. Nuvem responded well and equalized in the 27th minute when Fatorda goalkeeper Succoro Miranda misjudged a punch, allowing the ball to enter the goal, making it 1-1. At halftime, the score remained tied at 1-1.
The second half was intense, with both teams striving for dominance amid cheers from their supporters. Fatorda regained the lead in the 38th minute when Francis Colaco capitalized on a counter-attack, sprinting solo to make it 2-1. Despite several missed opportunities to extend their lead, Fatorda could not convert.
Nuvem fought back determinedly and equalized just before the final whistle. In a critical moment, Agnelo Colaco delivered a precise cross that Marcus Carvalho headed into the far corner of the net, leaving the Fatorda keeper with no chance.
The match proceeded to penalties, where Nuvem Veterans showcased superior shooting skills. They converted all their penalties through Agnelo Colaco, Marcus Carvalho, Domnick Noronha, and Wilson Fernandes. Fatorda managed to score through Seby Vaz and Santano Furtado but fell short.
Agnelo Colaco was named Man of the Match and received his award from Sohan D'Costa, Executive Member of the United Sports Club of Seraulim.
