Sesa Football Academy overcame Dalbir Football Academy 2-1 at GFA’s Stadium in Duler Mapusa on Wednesday, securing a spot in the I-League 3 playoffs. Dalbir Football Academy also advanced to the playoffs.
Sesa Football Academy delivered a strong performance, with Sachidanand Laxman Satelkar scoring both goals for his team in the 22nd and 38th minutes. Tanveer Singh netted the only goal for Dalbir Football Academy.
With this win, Sesa Football Academy topped their group with eight points, while Dalbir Football Academy finished in second place with six points.
The match began with Sesa Football Academy taking an early lead through a coordinated move. Sachidanand Satelkar received a pass on the right and delivered a powerful shot past Dalbir’s goalkeeper, Bharat Singh, in the 22nd minute.
Despite Dalbir’s attempts to equalize, including a close miss by Tanveer Singh and a shot that hit the crossbar, Sesa Football Academy maintained their advantage. Satelkar struck again in the 38th minute, receiving the ball behind the defense and scoring with a sharp shot.
In the second half, Sesa Football Academy continued to press, with Savlon Fernandes narrowly missing a goal. Dalbir Football Club had their own chances, but Tanveer Singh’s attempt was blocked by Sesa’s goalkeeper, Ronal Gaunkar.
Near the end of the match, Backham Singh’s shot went wide, and Tanveer Singh’s late effort was again thwarted by Gaunkar, sealing Sesa’s victory.
Sesa Football Academy's head coach, Charles Dias, praised his team's performance. “The match was tough from the start, but we put in a great performance. I’m proud of the players’ efforts. We controlled the game and dominated its course,” Dias said. “Our attacking formation showed we were determined to win, and our performance reflected that intent.”
