Sesa FA edge out Calangute Association

PANAJI

Sesa FA clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Calangute Association in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.

Sesa dictated the tempo in the attacking third during the first half, pressing relentlessly for an opener. Their persistence paid off in first-half stoppage time when Omkar Shetgaonkar delivered a curling cross from the right corner. Myran Pereira rose at the far post to direct a header on target, forcing a reaction save from Calangute’s Aditya Sharma. However, the goalkeeper failed to secure the ball, and despite a slight deflection off defender Vishesh Nasnodkar on the goal line, it found its way into the net.

After the break, Sesa nearly doubled their advantage when Sankalp Kankonkar sent in a low cross from the right. Beckham Singh controlled it with finesse, took a touch, and unleashed a strike, but Sharma stood tall to make the save.

Sesa kept up the pressure, coming close again when Faheez curled in a dangerous corner from the right. Daniel Gomes connected with a thumping header, but Sharma produced another brilliant stop, diving across to keep his side in the contest.

In the closing stages, Calangute pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Sesa’s defense held firm to grind out the win and secure a crucial three points.
