Sesa Football Academy (SFA) commemorated the occasion of the 75th Independence Day with national flag hoisting at the academy campus at Sirsaim followed by various engagement activities for the academy players, coaches and youth from the local community.
Nicholas Pereira, ex-India defender, and Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Arjuna awardee and former India captain, attended the interactive session with SFA players, coaches, support staff and football enthusiasts. A friendly 8-a-side football match was organized between a team of SFA coaches/support staff and Sirsaim Sports & Welfare Centre team at SFA ground. The SFA coaches/support staff team won the friendly match 5-3.
Speaking about the initiative, Annanya Agarwal, President - Vedanta Sports, said, "At Vedanta Sports, we believe that Indian youth has massive potential in sports. Our aim is to nurture their talent at grassroots level, and empower them to lead the success journey of Indian sports & bring prestigious laurels for the nation."
Sankhwalkar, the former goalkeeper who is now the chairman of Goa Football Development Council, said "It is great to interact and play with young enthusiastic footballers. I applaud SFA for driving the football development programme in the State for more than two decades, which has contributed immensely to Indian football."
