St. Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim emerged victorious in the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cycling Men's Championship 2024-25, held on January 7, 2025.
The event, organized by Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, under the aegis of Goa University, took place in Navelim, Goa.
Rosary College of Commerce and Arts secured the runners-up position, while Government College of Arts Science and Commerce, Quepem, claimed third place. The championship attracted 55 participants from colleges across Goa, who competed in a 35-kilometer cycling race.
In the Individual Category, St. Joseph Vaz College dominated the podium, with Dishant Kankonkar finishing in first place with a time of 00:55:50.00. Umesh Gani secured second place with a time of 00:56:10.00, and Shubham Gauns took third place with a time of 01:01:34.00.
The valedictory function was graced by Chief Guest Rajendra Prabhudessai, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic Cell, South Goa, and Guest of Honour Prof. Helic Barreto, Principal of Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Francis Lobo, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim; Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University; Dr. Manoj Hede, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao; Dr. Avertano Barretto, former College Director of Physical Education, Don Bosco College of Engineering; and Mr. Avidh A. Morajkar, Assistant Sports Officer, Goa University.
