St Jude HS Betalbatim Boys scored a convincing victory over St Aloysius HS Benaulim 3-2 to enter the semi-finals of the All Goa Inter School U-14 football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim in memory of Late Sir Jawaharlal D'Costa, at Panchayat Ground, Seraulim.
At half time, St Jude Betalbatim lead 2-0. The scorers Mahesh Kuppatagiri and Joswell Pereira scored during the seventh and 21st minute of the first half.
The second half saw St Aloysius Benaulim showing more responsibility however during the run of play Betalbatim scored their third goal through Milwerd Pereira to make it 3-0.
St Aloysius still in high spirits in the game did not give up they exerted pressure to see their efforts being recognised when Shaker Lamani scored from close in the 38th minute of the second half. Thereafter, it was Fritz Fernandes scoring in the 44th minute after the goalkeeper failed to collect the ball and it landed at the feet of Fritz and he just tapped the ball home. Although St Aloysius tried hard for the equaliser the St Jude boys stood hard and avoided any further score to keep their lead of 3-2 and ensure their place in the boys semi finals.
In the girls' category, St Jude Betalbatim made easy work of St Xavier's Velim 4-0. Siyanda Lopes, and Bhavika Malik scored a goal each and Alicia scored a brace for St Jude Betalbatim to book a place in the semi-finals.
