In a thrilling football match, United SC Seraulim defeated United Club Nerul 2-1 and secured their spot in the final of the inter-village football tournament organised by St Sabastian UC Benaulim, at Dando ground, Benaulim.
Nerul took the lead in the 28th minute with a goal from Sanket Jotkar as they dominated the first half. Seraulim displayed determination after halftime, making impactful substitutions by coach Kennedy.
Mohsin Sayyed equalised in the 50th minute, and Senetro Fernandes secured the lead in the 58th minute. Despite Nerul's early domination, Seraulim's relentless pressure and skilful play led to an impressive comeback victory.
Khatri named coach of sub-jr girls football team
Goa Football Association has appointed Prakash Khatri as the head coach of the State team for the Sub Junior Girls National Football Championship 2023-24 to be held at Amritsar, Punjab from September 3-13. Khatri is presently working as the head coach of Goan team Compassion FC.
Guardian Angel drub SCC Cavelossim 3-0
Guardian Angel SC blanked St Cruz Club Cavelossim 3-0 to move into the quarterfinals of the 29th Mandopa Cup at Mandopa ground on Thursday. Guardian Angel opened the scoreline through Jason Dias in the 37th minute. Goodwin Fernandes scored the second in the 45th minute, before Norman Dias added one more goal in the dying minutes.
Fr Agnel ease into semifinals
Fr Agnel Youth Club Paroda entered the semifinals after defeating Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna 3-1 in the Festival Cup 2023 organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club at Betalbatim Panchayat ground on Thursday.
Velroy Carvalho of Paroda was the star of the match, while Clifton Rebello gave his best for Rossman. The Paroda team opened their account in the 15th minute through Selvin Fernandes. Rossman equalised in the 36th minute through Clifton Rebello, 1-1.
Paroda dominated in the last few minutes of the match and two foxy moves of Likson Rebello and Velroy Carvalho produced two quick goals in the 65th and 67th minutes respectively.
