In a thrilling final, Vasco Jay Hanuman Kabaddi team defeated Shiroli Sattari United Club to clinch the championship of the state-level kabaddi tournament held at Koparde ground. The event was jointly organised by Ankur Sports Club Sattari, Masorde Shantadurga Kabaddi Team, and the Goa Kabaddi Association, with six teams from across the state participating.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Mauxi Panchayat Sarpanch Preeti Gaonkar, Honda Panchayat Sarpanch Shivdas Madkar, local Panchayat members Sayaji Sawant and Radhiki Sawant, organizing committee members Kalpesh Gawas, Vishal Melekar, Abhay Gavkar, and other dignitaries.
MLA Dr. Deviya Rane, who graced the occasion, highlighted the importance of indigenous sports like kabaddi in promoting local talent and physical and mental fitness. She appreciated the organizers and suggested including women players in future editions to encourage broader participation. Dr. Rane also announced that the renovation of Koparde ground is in its final stage and will soon be equipped with modern facilities for athletes, emphasizing that every village should have such playgrounds to nurture young talent.
Keri Zilla Panchayat member Nilesh Parwar noted that proper sports infrastructure provides opportunities for local players, energizes athletes, and helps develop skilled kabaddi talent in Sattari taluka. He expressed confidence that such tournaments would play a key role in nurturing future stars.
During the ceremony, three players”Uddesh Majik, Vishranti Gawas Desai, and Vishal Raghunath Sawant”were felicitated by Dr. Deviya Rane with shawls, coconuts, and mementos for their outstanding contributions.
