Velsao Sports and Cultural Club secured a decisive 3-1 victory over Wilred Leisure Sports Club on Friday at the DSYA ground in Curtorim, earning them a spot in the quarterfinals of the 14th Wilred Leisure Soccer Cup 2025.
From the outset, Velsao SCC displayed relentless attacking pressure, consistently challenging the Curtorim defense. Their persistence paid off when Ashwin Fernandes found the back of the net, giving Velsao a 1-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, Wilred Leisure attempted to rally, creating several scoring opportunities. However, their forwards struggled to convert those chances. Velsao capitalised on this, extending their lead through Dexten Fernandes. Although Wilred Leisure managed to pull one back with a goal from Vicky Cardozo, Velsao quickly regained control. A penalty kick, expertly converted by Aaron Fernandes, sealed the victory and eliminated Wilred Leisure.
Domnic Soares of Velsao Sports and Cultural Club was awarded the Man of the Match, receiving the honor from Domnic Paes, a member of the club.
