What the sports association officials have to say

Margao

Now the ball is in Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) court, is how an official of a Goan sports organization, which is caught in the pending bills of 2023 National Games described the situation.

The official questioned as to why SAG is taking an inordinate time to send circulars and suggested relevant circulars in quick time.

“Why does the SAG send circulars saying the file submitted by a particular sports association is not complete, and that after a delay of five to six months,” said an official of a sports association, who did not wish his name to be published.

He suggested a course correction in the pending dues impasse.

“What they must do is call the core members of the association and tell them specifically what is the shortfall, only then this will move, or else it's a herculean task for us to know where we are wrong,” he said.

“They must call the concerned sports association for a brief meeting and sort out whatever is missing or incomplete, we are ready, anytime, to go and get that done,” he added.

The official informed that the sports associations and the key officials have been meeting with the persons handling the accounts at SAG to sort out the nitty gritty of the pending dues for months now and still there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

“We have pursued the matter of player payments for quite some time/months.... We have even sat with the officer in-charge, deputed for National Games bills, for one morning session to rectify certain shortfalls, and cleared the file of Diet camp, TA/DA,” informed the official, a former state level player himself during his playing days.

“It's a mystery why SAG is delaying to release the payments....,” he added.

About the circular sent by SAG the official said: “I've seen just one circular is sent to all associations, I mean certain associations have 1 out of 7 checklists complete, some might have two or three, but for us we have submitted all pending issues, there may be some flaws within the submitted documents, that doesn't mean we are incomplete.”
