A fine first hat-trick of the tournament by Wilson Fernandes helped Cuncolim Union drub Sporting Club Davorlim 4-0 in the 24th all-Goa 8-a-side football tournament organised by Sirlim Sports Club at the Chinchinim Church ground, on Saturday.
Cuncolim Union led 2-0 at the breather. Cuncolim's Wilson Fernandes scored their first in the 8th minute off a rebound when Davorlim keeper Francisco Colaco failed to collect the ball neatly. Wilson got his second in the 29th minute.
In the second half, Wilson got his third, six minutes from the end of the second half to become the first player to score a hat-trick in the tournament. Before Wilson's third goal, Mairon Fernandes netted Cuncolim's third in the 40th minute.
Davorlim tried their best to reduce the margin and made several forays down the rival territory but poor shooting by their forwards let them down. Cuncolim came up with several runs down Davorlim's flanks, showing their superiority in the last quarter. Mairon made the issue safe for Cuncolim 40 minutes into play and Wilson rounded off the tally with the first hat-trick of the tournament.
