Calangute Association stormed into the quarter-finals of the Curtorim Villagers Cup 2025 with a commanding 6-0 victory over CAC Cansaulim in a pre-quarterfinal clash played at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim on Tuesday. The tournament is being organised by Curtorim Gymkhana.
Calangute took an early lead in the 12th minute when Tanay Kerkar opened the scoring after receiving a precise pass from Alwyn Fernandes. The lead was doubled in the 20th minute through Nigel Silveira, who unleashed a powerful strike past the Cansaulim keeper.
Tanay Kerkar found the net again in the 27th minute, making it 3-0 for Calangute by half-time.
The second half saw continued dominance from Calangute, with Alwyn Fernandes adding a fourth goal in the 40th minute. Runael Shirodkar scored in the 50th minute, before Tanay Kerkar completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute, rounding off a clinical performance to seal a 6-0 win.
Tanay Kerkar was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb hat-trick and overall contribution. The award was presented by Prashant (Bhai) Damaskar and Francis Rebelo, both former players of Curtorim Gymkhana.
