Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Betalbatim Sporting Club to book their place in the quarter-finals of the 3rd Fr. Bruno Leitao Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers at the Chinchinim Church Ground on Tuesday.
Don Bosco began the match on the front foot, putting early pressure on the Betalbatim defence. Their persistence paid off in the 14th minute, when Edgar Noronha rose above the defence to score with a well-timed header, giving Fatorda a crucial lead.
Betalbatim responded with urgency and nearly levelled the score, but Dickson Rogtao’s powerful attempt was brilliantly saved by the Don Bosco goalkeeper. Just before half-time, Cayven’s long-range strike rattled the crossbar, leaving Betalbatim unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Don Bosco.
In the second half, Betalbatim mounted sustained pressure in search of an equaliser, but the resolute Fatorda defence held firm, successfully keeping the Betalbatim attackers at bay.
Edgar Noronha was named Player of the Match for his decisive goal and impactful performance.
