Cuncolim Union, led by veteran Daulat Dessai, outclassed CAC Cansaulim in both attack and defence to register a convincing 3–0 victory and storm into the quarterfinals of the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup 2026. The tournament is organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim and matches are being played at the Fr. Druston and Wellington Ground, Cavelossim.
Cuncolim Union opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Daulat Dessai controlled the ball on the left flank and delivered a precise cross, which was neatly headed home by Vinod Velip to give his side a 1–0 lead.
After the break, Cuncolim Union dominated proceedings and should have increased their tally, but wayward finishing from Viraj Velip and Frazer Fernandes kept the scoreline unchanged.
CAC Cansaulim had a chance to get back into the game when Cedwick Furtado unleashed a powerful shot, but Cuncolim goalkeeper Sachin Prabhakar made an excellent save to deny him.
In the final quarter of the match, Cuncolim Union sealed the contest with two more goals from Tushar Gaonkar, taking the score to 3–0 and securing their place in the quarterfinals.
Tushar Gaonkar was adjudged the Man of the Match, and he received the Cavelossim Panchayat Award from Chief Guest Mrs. Viola Costa, former Sarpanch of V.P. Cavelossim.
