Shree Damodar High School emerged champions of the Salcete zone in the Under-14 President's Cup inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Goa Cricket Association, defeating Bhatikar High School by eight wickets in the final played at S.K. Ground, Molcornem, on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, Bhatikar High School posted a competitive 126 for 3 in their allotted 25 overs. Ayush Gaonkar anchored the innings with an impressive 60 off 51 deliveries, striking five boundaries and two sixes, while Sanch Naik provided solid support with a patient 50 off 80 balls. For Shree Damodar, Skipper Rumaan Mulam delivered an effective spell, claiming two wickets for 30 runs in five overs, while Affan Shaikh chipped in with one dismissal.
Chasing 127 for victory, Shree Damodar High School displayed composure and authority, reaching 129 for 2 in just 21.2 overs. Usman Ghani steered the chase with an unbeaten 67 off 60 balls, decorated with eight fours and a six, effectively sealing the contest. Abhiyaan Naik contributed 24 runs, while Captain Rumaan Mulam added a valuable 20. Rehan Khan and Sanch Naik picked up a wicket each for Bhatikar.
