Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda registered an emphatic 4–0 victory over CAC Cansaulim to book their place in the quarterfinals of the UCT Trophy 9-a-side inter-village football tournament. The tournament is organised by United Club Telaulim and the match was played at the Government Primary School ground, Telaulim, on Thursday.
Paroda began the match with great intent, launching attacks from both flanks right from the word go. Their early pressure paid off when Fedrich Fernandes opened the scoring to give Fr Agnelo YSC the lead. CAC Cansaulim tried to respond, with Dominic Soares sending a long pass to Jayson Lucas, who controlled the ball well and fired a shot from inside the box. However, Paroda goalkeeper Ravil was alert and punched the ball away for a corner. Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda went into halftime with a 1–0 advantage.
In the second session, both teams looked to assert control, but Paroda clearly had the upper hand. They added three more goals to seal the match, with Denzil Vaz scoring a brace and Krishna Gaonkar also finding the net to make it 4–0 in favour of Paroda.
Football lover and promoter Anthony Pires presented the Man of the Match award to Denzil Vaz of Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda for his outstanding performance.
