Goa’s own International Master (IM) Bhakti Kulkarni, an Arjuna Awardee, added another milestone to her distinguished chess career by clinching first place at the Olomouc Summer International Chess Festival held in the Czech Republic.
Bhakti emerged champion in the prestigious event, finishing ahead of a strong international field. Candidate Master Daniel Ser of Lithuania and Erwan Lever of France secured the second and third positions, respectively.
Her father and first coach, Pradip Kulkarni, expressed immense pride in her performance, calling it a moment of great joy for their family and for the state of Goa.
The Goa Chess Association also congratulated Bhakti on her impressive win, lauding her unwavering commitment to the sport and her role in promoting Indian chess on the global stage.
With this victory, Bhakti continues to inspire the next generation of Indian chess players and reinforces India’s growing presence in international chess.
