Guirdolim Club got the better of St. Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva 4-1 in a lively and high-tempo match in the Anil Kamath Memorial Tournament, hosted by Enfermos Sports Club at the Chinchinim Church ground.
Guirdolim set the tone early, with Joaquim Carvalho finding the net in the 8th minute to give his team the lead. St Anthony’s responded with attacking intent — Riston Gomes came close in the 12th minute, and Kabir Khan was twice denied in quick succession by the brilliant Guirdolim goalkeeper, Oswin Rodrigues.
Guirdolim nearly doubled their lead in the 15th minute through Valentino Carvalho, while St Anthony’s came closest to equalizing when Conrad Fernandes narrowly headed wide in the 25th minute. Both sides continued to trade chances, but Rodrigues stood firm, denying Kabir Khan again in the 20th and keeping his side in front.
After the break, Guirdolim took full control. Valentino Carvalho delivered a superb strike in the 31st minute to make it 2-0, followed by Mario Fernandes extending the lead with a clinical finish in the 35th.
St. Anthony’s managed to pull one back in the 49th minute through Cane Fernandes, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed just three minutes later when Richard Fernandes scored Guirdolim’s fourth, sealing a commanding 4-1 victory.
