PY Nuvem booked their place in the semifinals of the 19th Super Soccer International Football Tournament with a narrow 1-0 victory over CAC Cansaulim on Saturday. The match, organized by UC Benaulim, was held at the St. John de Baptista ground in Benaulim.
Nuvem started strongly, with forward Alvito Pereira troubling the CAC defense early on with his pace and movement. Their attacking momentum paid off in the 10th minute when left wing-back Hudson Dias made a surging run down the flank and delivered a precise cross into the box. Francisco Colaco rose above the defenders and expertly headed the ball past CAC goalkeeper Jovito Souza to give Nuvem the lead.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, PY Nuvem were unable to extend their advantage. Missed opportunities by Shenoy Colaco, Alvito Pereira, and Joywin Colaco kept the scoreline tight.
CAC Cansaulim nearly found an equalizer late in the match when striker Cidroy D’Souza unleashed a powerful right-footed effort that narrowly missed the target by inches, keeping Nuvem’s clean sheet intact.
Francisco Colaco was named Man of the Match for his decisive goal, and he received the award from GFA Executive Committee member Andrew Ferrao.
